Spinning To Break The Cycle of Violence at The House of Blues Chicago

1798652_10153949114975061_908632384_nI love cycling!  I love spin class!  So, it was my absolute pleasure to participate in the first annual “Spin To Break The Cycle” fundraising event on Saturday, March 8th at the House of Blues Chicago.

The money raised will go towards various programs offered by World Sport Chicago which are having a tangible impact on ending the cycle of violence among Chicago youth.

Four floors of House of Blues Chicago were taken over for this joy ride (pardon the pun!).  There were 50 bikes, 400 participants.  Several local sponsors including NBC Chicago, Barclays, FFC (Fitness Formula Clubs) and most of the local Chicago sports teams participated.  Live DJs spun heart-pumping tunes while we spun along on bikes in a total party setting.

Spin instructors from Fitness Formula Clubs (FFC) were on site to lead their 1-3 hour spin sessions throughout the day from 9-5 using their personalized playlists which they handed off to the DJs.

After participants completed their spin sessions, they were invited to enjoy some tasty food and beverages on the 3rd floor as well as free massages from the good folks at Aligned Modern Health on the 4th floor.  There were even spin bikes available for purchase for only $150!

I look forward to participating in this event again next year.  Perhaps the live DJs can be joined by live bands (just thinking out loud!).  Until then, I will wear my “Spin To Break The Cycle” t-shirt with pride and the hope that the collective efforts of World Sport Chicago and the good people of this amazing community will continue to make a difference on our streets.
