Each time I visit Siena Tavern in the River North neighborhood of Chicago, I am blown away by the decadent gelato, cake, cannoli and more which is offered on their dessert menu. Amy Arnold is the pastry chef there. I believe she is one of the very best in Chicago.
I recommend that you stop by this cozy and sexy restaurant as often as possible to enjoy the constantly changing assortment of gelato. Ms. Arnold pulls her gelati by hand and creates them using an array of interesting ingredients and flavors such as olive oil, pistachio and malted milk to name but a few.
Not a gelato fan? Well, then, let me suggest the ultra-rich warm butter chocolate cake which will make you fall in love with the world, in general, or at least make you forget your troubles for the next few hours. Another popular dessert offered at Siena Tavern is the bomboloni which are Italian donuts filled with a variety of jams, creams, and other ingredients.
Lastly, Siena Tavern offers the best cannoli outside of Brooklyn. Yeah, I said it. And, I am a New York City girl, born and raised!
